Vitis vinifera 'Purpurea'

Vitis vinifera 'Purpurea' ia an excellent hardy climber for a south facing wall, trellis or fence. It has woderful deep rich purple foliage throughout summer and bunches of ornamental grapes in autumn which blackbirds love. In autumn the foliage of Vitis vinifera 'Purpurea' turns from claret to bright red before it drops its leaves. Plant Vitis vinifera 'Purpurea' in a sunny spot to keep the leaves a rich dark purple and prune hard back to a frame work in winter if it gets to big.
